We have listed below some of the more common Ideal Boiler Fault Codes beginning with F
FD – No water flow
This is likely to be caused by a lack of water in your system or no flow
Check your header tank in your loft (if you have one) to see if you have water in it. If you do then call us to come and investigate and provide a fixed fee boiler repair quote
F1 – Low water pressure
The most likely cause is low water pressure in your system.
Top up your water pressure using the boilers filling loop or the filling loop located in your property
F2 – Flame loss
This is caused by a variety of issues including no gas, poor gas pressure, or a component has failed
Check any gas appliances in your property to make sure you have gas, if you do then call us or email us to investigate the cause and provide a fixed fee boiler repair quote
F3 – Fan Fault
This is caused by a faulty fan, but can also be an indication of a more serious underlying problem. For example a leak onto the fan, damaged or corroded leads or a failed PCB

F4 – Thermistor Fault
This is caused by a faulty flow thermistor, but can also be an indication of a more serious problem. For example a leak onto the leads or a failed PCB

F5 – Return Thermistor Fault
This is often caused by a faulty return thermistor, but can also be caused by a flow problem or a faulty PCB

F6 – Outdoor Sensor Fault
This indicates you have a faulty or broken outdoor sensor or a faulty PCB

This indicates your PCB has failed or has been installed incorrectly.

L1 – Poor Water Flow
Your boiler takes temperature readings and if it is too low or too high, it shuts down as a safety precaution

L2 – Ignition Lockout
Your boiler has “locked out” as a safety precaution and the cause needs investigation
If you have a rumbling sound coming from your boiler it could be a blocked flue or condensate. Both will require a Gas Safe engineer to investigate and rectify
L3 – No Flow Thermistor Fault
This normally indicates someone has changed the PCB and failed to calibrate it correctly

Check your system pressure after bleeding your radiators. If this does not fix your problem then we recommend you ring us
LF – Ignition Fault
The cause of this fault is very hard to identify, even for a Gas Safe engineer.

L5 – Boiler Return Issue
Indicates the boiler has been reset 5 times or more within 15 minutes
